Took the Consignment Plunge at PASTE

I have decided to take the plunge and place my eco-friendly handmade bags on consignment. I decided a great place to start this adventure was a new store located in Soulard…Paste Crafts (www.pastecrafts.com, 1009 Russell Blvd, St. Louis MO 63104). It is a very hip little shop full of awesome art and craft supplies as well as handmade goodies from over 60 local St. Louis artists (including some of my personal favorites..Down Zipper, South City Studios, Bella Luna, The Fancy Lamb and many many more!). If you haven’t made it into the shop yet, you should really check it out. If you are not crafty yet, Paste also offers a wide variety of excellent classes to help you get your craft groove on. LOVE IT! Wish me luck and I hope to bump into you at Paste!!!!

Have you Seen My Inner Monolog? It Is Missing Again.

Have you seen my inner monolog? I have seemed to of lost it? If you find it (you will know it is mine because it is tiny and shriveled), please do return it to me. I seem to lose it more often than I would like. I know when it is lost because I say something that I wish I would have kept to myself…only spoken in my head. For example, earlier this week I was talking to a very kind lady who is coming over to talk about designing a custom bag for her mother. When I answered the phone, she said her name and mentioned we spoke before Christmas about setting up this meeting. I then replied (and this is when I immediately noticed my inner monolog was missing) “Oh yes. I just saw a slip of paper with your name on it in my planner and I tossed it because I couldn’t remember who you were.” YIKES!!!!!! Did I really just say that out loud????!!!!?? And my inner monolog was still missing when she kindly suggested meeting over lunch and I replied “No, my husband does not like strangers in the home when he is at work.” What was I thinking? There could have been so many other way more appropriate ways to get the same points across without suggesting she might be a weirdo. I definably do not think this kind woman is at all strange and I am very happy and excited to have her and her mom over for a visit. UUuugg. So please. If you live in the St. Louis area, please keep your eye out for my inner monolog. You will be rewired with the satisfaction of knowing that you saved other poor St. Louis souls from having to hear my uncensored thoughts.

Watch Out Blog World...Here I Come

Hello world! I have decided to start a blog and share my thoughts and opinions with you all. You can sleep well tonight knowing that you now have a place to find out just what is on my mind…Just kidding. I think it is going to be fun and a creative outlet! My husband thinks I am a bit nuts for embracing Facebook, Twitter, and now blogging. What did we all do before we had these tools to play with? I think we all must have been a lot more productive. Ha!

So I am a work-at-home mom and I have two awesome kids and the worlds best husband (the part about my husband was added as he helped me proof this, but really he ROCKS!). I left my job as a Nuclear Engineer for Lockheed Martin to stay home. I found myself looking for something to do that was fun and creative and that I could enjoy when my kiddos slept. I also love learning how to live green and sewing so I created Sew Good and Trendy. Now I create trendy eco-friendly handmade bags. You are probably wondering how did a Nuke-E get into sewing and being creative? Well, I started sewing when I was very young and even drove my first plastic Singer sewing machine into the ground. It was so cute…a bright white machine with hippy orange flowers all over it. It was probably my first love. And honestly I find sewing and designing bag patterns very mathematical, so this all feels natural and exciting.

I plan to post as often as I can and when I have something I want to talk about. Honestly, I hardly ever find it a challenge to find something to chat about. Looking forward to entering the world of blogging! Thanks for the read and talk soon.
